Art Journals for Women

At Milk and Honey, some of the most-loved items are the Art Journals for Women.  They are inspiring with their beautiful images of women, and have lots of outlined images within the journals that you can paint or fill in as you are inspired.  There are also lots of blank pages to use as journal pages and/or blank palates for painting, drawing, collageing, or creating whatever you want.

These journals can be used to move past writers’ block, get the creative juices flowing, and for deep spiritual work.

Enjoy!

A Beautiful Day at Milk & Honey

Saturday was Customer Appreciation Day at Milk and Honey and it was a beautiful day - full of love.  Hundreds of customers came and received free massage, tarot card readings, food, and entertainment.  The Lela Deva Dance Troupe performed out in front of the shop at 2:00 pm, and fun was had.

Picture above shows the wonderful food spread created by a friend of Milk & Honey.  Customers kept asking who catered the food and were surprised at the news that it was not a professional caterer, just a wonderful cook.  And Infusions, the local tea lounge, kindly donated two amazingly yummy pots of tea.

Gwen was one of the massage therapists who helped customers relax and de-stress all day.  Her healing touch helped many.  And she even did it with a smile!

Here is the famous Magick (right) doing a tarot card reading for one of our customers.  Magick is the most powerful, intuitive tarot card reader in town and she gave free readings on Saturday.

Finally, the Lela Deva Dance Troupe, 6th and 7th grade Bollywood dancers from the Sebastopol Charter Waldorf School, rocked it out on the street.  The young goddesses showed us their confident and beautiful moves with people watching from the rafters (see the crowd that formed behind them on the balcony?!), not to mention the 50-plus people watching from the sidewalk.  Their dance is a combination of traditional Hindu dance and modern hip-hop!  The goddesses of the future….

It certainly was a beautiful day at Milk & Honey. The customers were appreciated, the love was flowing, and the goddess was alive and magick was afoot.

Tantra for Women

My partner, Candra, and I have been doing tantra together for 7 years.  We both feel so lucky to have learned these spiritual breath and presence processes young in life (we are in our 30s). Tantra has brought us so much bliss and ecstasty I think life without it would be dismal.

If you haven’t yet tapped into your body’s wisdom through tantra, check out this beautiful video, ‘Hearts Cracked Open.’ The video shows tantra for women and a few different teachers, including ours, Evalena Rose.  Evalena is an amazing spiritual teacher who creates extraordinarily safe workshop spaces for women only and also for men and women to do tantra together.

Seriously, if you haven’t done tantra yet, it’s better than your favorite food, better than drugs, even better than sex!  Check it out!

That’s all for now.

Bast, the Goddess of Play

Over the past few months, I’ve drawn the Bast card from my favorite tarot deck
(Daughters of the Moon) many times. This card talks about Bast, the Egyptian cat goddess, and how she is the goddess of play.  People who work too hard need her medicine to relax and have a balanced life, which includes play and fun.  Apparently, I’m one of the millions of Americans who work too hard. (Are you?)

Bast is an Egyptian Goddess and protector of cats, women, and children. She is the goddess of the sunrise and play, reminding us to play more and have fun. Her goddess duty has changed over the years, but she is also known as a goddess of love, fertility, birth, music and dance. Bast is the goddess of the moon. She has a twin sister named Sekhmet. Together the twin sisters formed the “yin-yang”of Egyptian religion, Bastet being the positive force and Sekhmet being the destructive force.

Bast is depicted in art in many ways, often with the head of a cat and the body of a woman. (Her sister, Sekhmet is shown with the head of a lionness.) Another popular form of Bast, in her earthly form, is a seated cat, and in this form her name changes to Bastet.

With this blog posting, I invoke the play energy of Bast for myself and anyone who is reading this.  Welcome, Bast!

Copper Bracelet helped my Carpal Tunnel

Having worked on computers for the past 3 years, I’ve developed a bit of carpal tunnel pain in my right forearm. Recently, a friend suggested I try wearing a copper bracelet. Since I work at Milk & Honey and we sell copper bracelets, it was easy to do. I picked out the cutest one (a thick copper patterned bracelet), and put it on.

Immediately, within 2 minutes, my arm pain subsided. It’s absolutely amazing. They really work! I’ve tried so many things from making sure I’m seated ergonomically correct in my chair to yoga stretches before, during, and after computer work. But never has anything worked as well as the copper bracelet. Now I wear it every day. Try it for yourself!

Over and out,

Aphrodite Prayer Flags

Well, Milk & Honey has become known for it’s handpainted prayer flags. Here is a photo of the entrance of the store today, decorated with the Awakened Aphrodite flags above the front altar.
The original artwork for the Aphrodite flags was done by Mara Friedman. Each flag was a painting she did separately while on retreat in Hawaii.  They all came together beautifully in this string of flags, creating a prayer.
All of our flags are fair trade.  Learn more on the Milk & Honey website.
May all of your prayers come true with the Spring wind.
Blessed Be!
Take Care,
Alyssa

April is the month of Abundance

Here at Milk & Honey, the theme for the month of April is Abundance

Lakshmi is the Hindu Goddess of Abundance and Prosperity.  Every morning when Milk & Honey (the store) opens, whoever is working will pray to Lakshmi to connect them and our customers to her energy.  My prayer usually goes something like,

“Divine Lakshmi, please connect me with the energy of abundance.  I open myself to you - please flow through me - help me to become you today.  Help me connect customers with that which their soul is deeply longing for.  Help me guide them to the gift that will be most fulfilling to them or their loved one.  Please shower every person who walks through the door with abundance.”

We have created a beautiful Abundance Ritual and an Abundance Ritual Gift Package.  Please check them out at www.milk-and-honey.com.

May you be deeply connected with the abundance of the Universe!

Blessed Be.
